General Information for the Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit or (ICU) is a special department within the Hospital where people who need specialized medical care go (for e.g. after serious illnesses, accidents or operations) with the aim to help them improve their health.
Who helps the patient....
In the ICU, patients receive special attention from doctors, nurses and other health care professionals as well as from specialized machines.
Don't be afraid...
When you get into the ICU you will see a lot of machines with lights on them which produce weird noises. At first you may be a little scared, but don't worry. Each machine has a specific purpose and helps the patient to get better.
Who will support you...
The Doctors, Nurses and Psychologists will be next to you to explain what each machine does. All these machines do the 'job' our body does when is healthy. With the machines the body tries to get better.
