Representatives of the European Project "ICARE4ΕU" visited the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital on 2nd and 3rd April, 2015. During their visit, they had several meetings with Dr. Theodoros Kyprianou, Head of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital, and Dr. Nikolas Stylianides, Project & Technical Manager of "TelePrometheus" and "TeleRehabilitation" services, Dept. of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital. Also, they had the chance to take interviews from members of the multi-disciplinary team (Dept. of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital).

Τhe European Project "ICARE4ΕU" describes and analyzes exiting approaches of current integrated care programs and new models of multi-disciplinary care for people with multiple chronic conditions in 30 European countries.

• Aims to disseminate knowledge about key characteristics of effective care

• Contributes to an improved design, a wider applicability and more effective implementation of integrated care innovations

• Disseminates knowledge and innovative solutions to improve chronic illness care in Europe

Objectives of the visit:

• Learn more about the 8 multimorbidity care programs that include promising elements related to general criteria and the four main "ICARE4EU" project perspectives: (a) patient centeredness, (b) use of e-health technology, (c) financing systems, (d) management and integration issues

• Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital: Healthcare services and vision

• Εvaluation of three research programs: "TelePrometheus", "TeleRehabilitation" and "PROSAFE"

The first day agenda (02/04/2015) included:

• Overview of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Nicosia General Hospital

• TeleRehabilitation program for critically and chronically ill patients in the community

• TeleRehabilitation sessions demonstration

The second day agenda (03/04/2015) included:

• Psychological Support of severely ill patients -hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nicosia General Hospital- and their families

• Ariadne Project: Tele-Psychological Support of children and adolescents
